47: typography
there are 28 people interested i am interested in this class

This course would be an introduction to the concepts, history, and practice of typography. It would survey traditional, modern, contemporary, and experimental approaches. It would be 25% lecturing and reading; 75% making and critiquing. The goal would be to provide the means for creative people in other fields to be typographically self-sufficient (rather than relying on professional design help).

  1. This class is now in the planning stage, after deliberation at The Public School committee meeting 01. The person who has offered to teach the class has been emailed to finalize details.

  2. This class has been scheduled:

    Date: Sundays, April 20 to June 1, 2008 from 2-5pm (6 meetings)
    Location: TELIC Arts Exchange
    Teacher: Sean Deyoe.
    Limit: 15 people
    Fee: $95.

The course will meet 6 times between April 20 and June 1. There are actually 7 Sundays in that span of time, but on one of them there won’t be any class. You will need access outside of class to a computer with Quark or InDesign.

Visit the class page to pay and confirm your participation:

  3. Unfortunately, at the moment, there aren’t enough people registered to cover the cost of the course (that would be 8 people). This means that we’ll probably have to cancel the course as it’s currently scheduled. We’ll leave the registration open until tomorrow evening and see if we get to 8 people, but in the meantime, we wanted to let you know the situation. Obviously, if you’ve paid and the course is canceled, your money will be refunded!

  4. This course has been canceled. It’s been moved back into the proposals list for now.
