Rooted in Heidegger, Derrida and performance art, Avital Ronell is one of the most eccentric characters in the contemporary theoretical world. Not in the last place because of the stuff she writes about: stupidity, drugs, telephones, meditation, George Bush and Valerie Solanas. And of course her writing style, often spectacular, always resisting closure and even coherence, sometimes opaque, but never boring.
In this course, we would just read some of her shorter texts together, discussing their (non-) foundations and figuring out what it is that Ronell does.
For those who don't know her, here's a fragment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKD9anjgcCI
