"Contemporary Art Practices and the Politics of Aesthetics" blog
Notes from Meeting #1 and a reminder
Thanks to everyone who came out to the first meeting of Aesthetics and Politics.
Hopefully you enjoyed the discussion as much as i did, We started to discuss the interview "Giving Shape to Painful Things" and talked generally about CF's ideas and work. It seemed that everyone present wanted to continue discussing Claire Fontaine and dig deeper into the readings and so it was proposed that our next meeting was a follow up to their presentation at CCA this week
REMINDER: Claire Fontaine and Hal Foster will be at CCA tomorrow night Oct 30th
Note that It starts at 7 but get there early because it will probably fill up. I know many of us expressed interest in going.
AWC (one of the interviewers for "Giving Shape" is working on bringing Clare Fontaine to meet with us while he and they are in town. This coincides with our next meeting which should be the week of the 10th-16th. Any days not work for y'all or you feel strongly about?
Beyond the CF events, folks expressed an interest in collectively reading Artificial Hells by Claire Bishop. It would be a good book to work through over the course of maybe three or four sessions.
