Jerry Resists... NIETZSCHE's Beyond Good and Evil Reading Group

Organizing Committee:

"Knowledge for its own sake"—that is the last snare laid by morality: we are thereby completely entangled in morals once more."

Our friend and comrade Jerry Koch has been in prison since Tuesday May 21st, as part of an indefinite detention for refusing to cooperate with a federal grand jury.

We began by reading and discussing the first two parts of Jerry's favorite book, Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil, "On the Prejudices of Philosophers", and "The Free Spirit," and will move forward now to the third section: "Apophthegms and Interludes."

We invite any and all to join us to discuss Jerry's and our situation, Nietzsche, and whatever else. We will give ourselves some time to write notes to Jerry, to share some thoughts with him, and ask him what the fuck is up with Nietzsche, anyway? Jerry's preferred Walter Kauffman translation is available for download here: Please bring some food and drink to share, fruits, vegetables, breads and cheeses, wines and juices, chocolates, sweets, whatever if you'd like.

Hey etx, yes, the plan is to finish all 9 parts, hopefully 1 a week. We actually didn't get to talk about part 5 last Wednesday, but could try again this week. Does that work for you?

missed the first meetings, but would like to join in. are you planning another soon?

We're continuing with the Nietzsche tomorrow. It's part 5, "Natural History of Morals", at the Base in Bushwick, 1302 Myrtle Avenue (at Stockholm St). 7PM.
When we finish the Nietzsche, we'd like to continue meeting weekly at the Base, perhaps staying with Wednesday if that turns out to be the best day for people.
