Trial Run: "Pass Left" Peer Poetry Writing Workshop

+ Attending

Wanted to jump in to this idea by scheduling a trial run. Seeking interested parties to join and see if we should keep something like this going.

This proposal is to create a safe space for collaborative improvement in creative expression through (whatever you define as) poetry. The idea is simple:

  1. Either (a) bring your own work or (b) agree to a writing exercise (hopefully inspired by something timely and relevant to your community). Bring something. Seriously, anything prepared beforehand, printed or written in legible writing.
  2. Pass left.
  3. Read the work handed to you, provide at least (a) something you appreciated and (b) a suggestion for improvement or a question. Other notes encouraged as well.
  4. Once the circle has completed, read the feedback and discuss in small groups, pairs, or as a group.
  5. Rinse, repeat.

One must read poetry in order to grow as a writer. Further, poetry can improve immensely when others provide constructive feedback.
