Books Through Bars is a reading/education encouragment program that sends books to prisoners. Next week they are hosting a book launch for "The Hidden 1970s: Histories of Radicalism", info below.

FYI - Books Through Bars is accepting book donations, so bring a book, soft cover preferred- *At the top of thier lists are usually English dictionaries, Spanish/English dictionaries, African-American history, especially 20th century, Native American history, Latin American history... Re:CBS Building

First, thank you Todd and others.  Wish I did not have to leave early (wanted to get to the tennis club the most!).  My connection at CBS writes in response to questions about 1) are there tenants there in addition to CBS and 2) what is with the lobby:

 

We have other tenants in Blackrock building (2 large law firms among them).

I believe that one tenant that left had the lobby (either Cushman Wakefield or part of UBS...)

This session of Disorganizing Sound, facilitated by musician and Issue Project room curator Zach Layton and musician/composer David Weinstein, will address the Minimalist movement, primarily as it emerged in the early 1960s, while also considering its forerunners and contemporary descendants.  Together, we will listen to the works of several composers and discuss their relationship to broader cultural trends, including the influence of East Asia and India, and minimalism in the plastic arts, among others.

Adult Ed. takes place at Union Hall in Park Slope (702 Union St. at 5th Ave., BK). Doors at 7:30pm, lectures at 8pm. $5 cover.
